Essie Borrowed & Blue, Nicole by OPI Rich in Sprint, & More

I love light blue nail polish, so it’s no wonder why I couldn’t resist Essie’s Borrowed & Blue from the 2011 Wedding Collection when I saw it in Ulta last week.

I would totally rock this on my wedding day.  The base color is white white, so if your color scheme is more creamy this option probably won’t work so well.  Since weddings are so festive I felt that should be reflected on my nails, but I didn’t want to go over the top.  I thought about doing a french manicure, but I REALLY hate the french mani.  Instead, I decided on what some people consider a reverse french, better known as the moon manicure.

I LOVE this look, moon mani’s are my new BFF.  I used one coat of Nicole by OPI Rich in Spirit for the top coat and added a lil swarovski bling to ring finger.  In hindsight I should have added the bling to all my fingers except the ring since, if this was truly my wedding day, I’d be getting my own special bling for it by the end of the day.  Regardless, I’m head over hills for this mani!

Unfortunately, it only lasted a day because I had to work an event the next day that required me to wear all black and I needed to paint my toes, but I didn’t want them baby blue.  Don’t get me wrong, fingers and toes don’t have to match but because this was a more serious event I wanted them to.   After I painted my toes with Nubar Hot Fuchsia, I just couldn’t stand the idea of having my nails one solid color.  Sooo…..that’s right, another moon mani!

I realize that near neon pink isn’t most people’s idea of a serious manicure, so I’d like to officially welcome you to my world.  I tried to be normal, but this works so much better for me.  If your wondering, I used OPI Make Love for the base.  I love this one even more than the last one!  Here’s a pic of the complete look in action.

Thats’ me on the right, PLEASE don’t ask me about the gianormous flower, it wasn’t my idea.  This look was fantastic, I think I managed to look serious even with a two-toned, hot pink mani. What do you think?  Do you LOVE moon manicures as much as I do?  Can you still be serious with hot pink phalanges?

This is usually where I end the post and leave you with a musical selection, but not today.  I actually have one more mani to show you.  My beloved Hot Fuchsia chipped after only 2 days!  So I did what any nail polish love’n, chipped nail hate’n, moon manicure obsessed girl would do…I repainted them! AND I upgraded the moon!

I used Essie Beach Bum Blue for the bottom and China Glaze Liquid Vinyl for the top, with a stripe of China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy highlighting the moon and adding a little pizazz.  Once again I LOVE IT!  You can’t tell by the picture, but Liquid Vinyl looks extra shiny, like patent leather, and because Beach Bum Blue is frosty it appears dull.  The contrast of color, in addition to the the different finishes of the polish, makes the this one my absolute favorite!

Are y’all feeling this?  Which one is your favorite? Leave a comment and let me know.  Because I briefly talked about weddings today I’ll leave you with one of the most popular wedding songs EVER!

I love them all! I was trying to pick out wedding nail polish just this week! But actually, I’m just a guest at the wedding, wearing a black dress and red patent leather shoes, so I guess I can’t rock the light blue. I WILL take other suggestions though! I really like the moon mani as well – is it common/popular enough that any salon nowadays will do it?

Heather, you can do ANYTHING you want, there are no rules to nails polish. I’m not sure if the salons will do it, but if they do you might want to opt for a clear base, otherwise you’ll have to account for additional time for the bottom color to dry, I had to use strips to make the line straight. I actually like light blue and red together and I was comtemplated putting red on top of the blue. If they won’t do the moon maybe light blue with OPI Black Shatter…cute! Have fun at the wedding. Send me a pic of the outcome.

You absolutely AMAZE me!! How many times in one week was that for a polish change? I wish I can keep you in my back pocket for those days where I experience the chip #sigh. On that NOTE: Can you “Moon ME” ? I so consider myself abnormal, so feel free to become as creative as they come with my nails!!
I actually love #2 blue moon but not the Pizza :-) joint- but the Blue Moon OPI (one word not O.P.I.) with the bling!! **Did it On Em**
